Dave Chappelle Comes To Celebrities’ Rescue On George Floyd’s Death

Seating in pairs, social distancing, mask-wearing, and no alcohol to encourage adherence to the Covid-19 rules, Dave Chappelle’s 8:46 raw and powerful surprise show is a MUST SEE and has trended for all great reasons on social media.

Titled after the length of the time taken by the Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on George Floyd’s neck – subsequently killing him, the special show touches on police brutality and racism in America and the country’s response.

But most notable from his address is on the celebrity response most Americans – or rather Don Lemon – cried out, calling out on celebrities for not speaking out on George Floyd death amid protests and unrest in the country.

He comes to celebrities rescue. The streets don’t need any celebrity right now, he says reiterating that it doesn’t matter about any celebrity’s contribution, rather nobody cares about what they are to say -everyone saw what happened.

“This is the streets talking for themselves, they don’t need me right now. I kept my mouth shut. And I’ll keep my mouth shut. Don’t think my silence is complicit. Why would anyone care what their favourite comedian thinks after they saw a police officer kneel on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds? I can’t get that number out of my head,” he said.

The emotional comedy piece where he blasts most other celebrities has been famed online after it was dropped on Netflix’s comedy channel.

Kyle Williams was one of the Buffalo Bills’ best all-around athletes when he played for the team from 2006-2018.

He proved that on the football field as a defensive tackle and showed off further athleticism scoring a touchdown on the ground late in his career and hauling in a Josh Allen pass in his final game. Williams wasn’t just great on the football field. He took on Marshawn Lynch in a swimming race and left the running back in the dust.

Another sport where Williams excels is at golf. During his career with Buffalo, Williams carried a plus-handicap which is a handicap that is better than zero. Now that he’s retired, it seems he has gotten even better at the game.

Williams is one of many athletes and celebrities taking part in this year’s American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament. After the first day of the tournament, Williams is leading the competition with a score of 25.

The American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament uses a modified stableford scoring system in which players are awarded points for shooting par (1 point), birdie (3 points) and eagle (6 points). Players are not penalized for bogeys but lose points for double-bogeys or worse (-2 points).

Heading into day two of the competition, Williams’ main competition is former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (20 points) and former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz (20 points). Both are paired with Williams on day two of the event.

Following his strong day one performance, Williams spoke with South Tahoe Now.

“Well, I’m here holding it down for the 300-plus pound guys. I may not be there anymore, but I used to be. So I’m a card-carrying member. So big boys can play too,” Williams told South Tahoe Now.

Romo, the defending champion of the event, spoke highly of Williams’ round.

“He’s got a great swing. He’s a great guy. I’m happy for his score today, I think it’s cool,” said defending champ Tony Romo at the end of round one. “That’s the other part, you don’t see a lot of linemen come out and play great golf. And he’s just a rare guy who has a unique ability for hand/eye coordination and to take that to the golf course.”

Want to watch Williams’ Round 2 and Round 3? You can livestream the rounds on Saturday and Sunday on NBCSports.com or watch the rounds on NBC starting at 3 p.m. EST.
