Bryan Mbeumo gave Brentford the lead midway through the first half, stooping to nod home his 15th goal of the season.

Josh Dasilva increased their advantage just past the hour mark and Joel Valencia added a third goal in the 90th minute to secure a fourth successive league victory for the west London side.

Leeds, meanwhile, missed the chance to extend their lead at the top to six points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom club Luton.

Having soaked up pressure in the first half, Harry Cornick finished off an incisive breakway to give the Hatters the shock advantage, but Marcelo Bielsa’s men rallied and equalised through Stuart Dallas 13 minutes later.

Substitute Kal Naismith netted a quickfire double as in-form Wigan thumped Stoke 3-0 at the DW Stadium.

A Jack Butland own-goal set Paul Cook’s men on their way after 40 minutes, with Naismith – a first-half replacement for Michael Jacobs – adding two after the break, the latter of which was particularly notable.

Fulham took the west London derby spoils at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, as they came from behind to beat QPR 2-1.

Jordan Hugill’s first-minute goal got Rangers up and running, but Harry Arter levelled the scores and Cyrus Christie netted a stunner to seal the win for Scott Parker’s side late on.

Barnsley‘s Conor Chaplin came off the bench to score in a 2-0 win over Blackburn and boost the Tykes’ survival chances.

The former Portsmouth forward struck after 58 minutes at Oakwell and Jacob Brown made sure of the win 14 minutes from time, shortly after Rovers’ Ben Brereton had been dismissed for violent conduct.

Millwall and Swansea‘s hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs took a hit as they played out a 1-1 draw at The Den.

A first goal for on-loan Derby winger Mason Bennett set the Lions on their way in the first half (21), but an own goal from goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski helped Rhian Brewster’s sublime free-kick over the line to earn a draw for Steve Cooper’s side (66).

Elsewhere, Cardiff and Charlton saw their 100 per cent records since football returned come to an end as the two sides shared a goalless draw in the Welsh capital.

Bruno Fernandes has dazzled since the restart and the statistics say he is the most in-form player in the Premier League.

The Portugal international tops the Power Rankings chart after winning and converting a controversial penalty in the 3-0 win at Aston Villa on Thursday – his fifth goal since the enforced break.

Mason Greenwood scored his fourth goal since the restart to double United’s lead at Villa Park and secure runner-up spot in the latest form chart, while Paul Pogba (No 6) netted from range to seal the win and a place in the top 10.

Anthony Martial (No 9) cut a frustrated figure when he was hooked off goalless with 11 minutes to go, having forced himself into the fringes of a Golden Boot race.

Man Utd have now gone 17 games unbeaten in all competitions

Outside of United’s dominance, Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski (No 3) has excelled across a raft of stats since football returned with a league-topping 54 duels won and 36 clearances made, while only Troy Deeney has won more aerials.

Danny Ings (No 4) and Mohamed Salah (No 7) are serious Golden Boot contenders and both boosted their causes with goals during the latest round of games as Southampton drew 1-1 with Everton and Liverpool beat Brighton 3-1.

Willian (No 6) signed a short contract extension to see out the season with Chelsea and is among the elite performers, while David Silva (No 7) produced a stellar performance in Manchester City’s 5-0 rout over Newcastle.

In terms of each club’s top player, Hugo Lloris appears to have prevented any more damage as Spurs struggle at the other end, while Leandro Trossard has stood out at Brighton and John Egan leads the way at Sheffield United and landed at No 10 in this week’s chart.

NORWICH, England (AP) — Norwich became the first team to be relegated from the English Premier League on Saturday after Michail Antonio scored four goals for West Ham, which moved much closer to safety with Watford.

Antonio grabbed all the goals in West Ham’s 4-0 win over Norwich. West Ham is 16th and six points clear of 18th-place Bournemouth in the relegation zone. Watford is level on points with West Ham after coming from 1-0 down to beat Newcastle 2-1.

Players wore black armbands as Premier League games this weekend started with a moment of silence as a tribute to World Cup winner Jack Charlton, who died on Friday aged 85.

Norwich is in last place with a 13-point gap to Watford in 17th and a maximum nine points on offer in the three remaining games.

Set pieces have been a regular source of hurt for Norwich and that was the case again on Saturday. Antonio’s first goal was a close-range finish at a corner and his second a header from Mark Noble’s free kick. Antonio headed the third on the rebound when his shot was saved by Tim Krul on the break.

Watford captain Troy Deeney scored two second-half penalties to give his team a valuable 2-1 win over Newcastle. Dwight Gayle put Newcastle ahead in the 23rd minute but defensive errors proved costly for Newcastle after the break. Matt Ritchie gave away one penalty for Deeney to score in the 52nd and Javier Manquillo gave up another with a foul on Ismaila Sarr.

A little more than a thousand fans were on hand in a 9,000-seat arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to watch one of the first indoor professional sporting events since the coronavirus pandemic began. Professional Bull Riders welcomed just over a thousand people to cheer the culmination of a month-long competition that until Friday has played out before silent stands

UNDATED (AP) — The Big Ten Conference won’t play nonconference games in football and a handful of other sports this fall because of the coronavirus pandemic. The league also warned that it was “prepared not to play” at all to keep its athletes safe. The decision affects more than 40 games, including some marquee matchups like Notre Dame against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field. The announcement came a day after the Ivy League called off all fall sports. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says he is “very concerned” about the season.
